movies overdose!

4 movies over the weekend. whoa....alot to process.

the proposal: surprisingly good. it's not amazingly fantastic but for a chick flick/romance/comedy movie, it's good!

slumdog millionaire: i love it!

transformers 2: i like the first one better. also this one had way too many and long fight scenes amongst metal. and unless you're a fanboy, you might get confused with what is who. the boy now wants to get the cartoon movie for me, so i can educate myself.

valkyrie: hmmmm....the actors were all really good. esp the portrayal of weird hitler. erm....but it was okay only. not bad, but wasnt fantastic for me.

and i wanna watch "my sister's keeper" and "marley & me". all the sappy shows. and after i'm done with the twilight saga books, the boy thinks i should read harry potter since i know nothing about tt one. i think it's all a ploy, cos he read the first 3, and he's lazy to read the rest. tsk tsk.

i've caught the fever

i've read the first book and seen the movie. now i'm halfway thru the 2nd book. and the cashier says "see you soon for the 3rd one!" oh dear. i'm a fan now i think. either tt or the boy is making me read it cos he wants to know what happens next n is lazy to read. tsk tsk. i'm prob the last few pple on earth who just caught on.

raspberry shortbread bars

or rather, raspberry crumble. i think tt's the commercial name. so i attempted to make my own raspberry jam and shortbread and its crumble. result = delish! the boy calls it gourmet but again, he's overtly flattering. i've nothing much to say but it's yummy!!!!

drinks in the garden

it's hard to find a quiet place for drinks in boston. i guess cos it's the city area so everywhere gets really packed, esp at night. so on saturday we retreated to our area, cambridge. at harvard square we managed to find a bar/restaurant with a small lil garden (i duno why they call it a garden, looks more like backyard). and at OM, we had afternoon drinks n snacks!

this was right after i had a burger and bubble tea. tsk tsk. well, it was saturday - the day i eat all sorts of junk!

my toy in the supermarket

we found another supermarket last sunday and we love it cos it's quiet and neat. the other supermarket located in town is slightly bigger, but always always packed with people and stuff are rather messy. u just feel like grabbing stuff and run out. whereas this other supermarket, located in the boonies, allows us to walk slowly and actually enjoy supermarketing together.

and i particularly like it cos of the trolley/basket! of cos it was a little too small for what we needed to buy but who cares, it's fun!

the past few sundays the boy had to work at home, hence he hasnt been chef-ing in the kitchen. this sunday though, he did. and it was so gooood. pork, potatoes and green beans. i duno how he did it cos he goes by instincts. yummz!

and for the first sunday night in almost 2.5 months, there wasnt NBA on tv. we resorted to watching movies on demand and saw "he's not that into you" which sucks. waste of time. pui.

my new read

i've obviously got more time here to read than when i was back home and working. and my new read from sunday afternoon at harvard square is twilight! very unlike me to read a book like tt. cos for one, i was never intrigued by the movie, didnt catch it. two, i was never into anything regarding vampires (ok i admit i use to watch buffy but tt's as far as i would go). but when i saw tt the book was 10 bucks, wat the heck, i will give it go.

and it's actually not too bad....i mean i knew it was some teenage romance abt vampire and human (duh!) but it's not as cheesy as i feared it would be. it's quite a good read and i do wanna catch the movie after i finished the book - at least to check out the english dude whom my dad claimed is "....very very very handsome" after he saw the movie.

the naggy nags and cabbie

friday night, after walking around town and yakking at a park, we decided to head back home, grab a drink and lounge at the roof deck. on the way home in a cab, the boy tells the cabbie twice tt he needs to turn right at the next traffic lights just before we reach the lights. and nearing the actual right turn, the boy raises his voice n said "turn here, here here here!" obviously - in his usual naggy nags way. long winded and kiasu. very uncle style.

the cabbie shouts back "i know i know i know!" he then goes "JESUS!" even louder and rolls his eyes. we were quite shocked by the reaction cos he looked really pissed.

however, after climbing out of the cab, i burst into a fit of laughter which led to the boy roaring with laughter as well. it was like the ultimate way to tell my boy tt he's such a naggy nags and such an uncle. it was sooooooo funny! maybe u wont find it funny, u gotta see this cabbie and hear the entire convo, from the boy nagging at him, to the cabbie yelling back and to both their body gestures tt makes this entire incident so hilarious. we laughed for a good 15 mins.

anyway - i found the best pink nail color. bright enuf but not too bright to look like a bimbo. i love the pink!

penthouse? roof deck?

apparently, being on the 20th floor of this building is considered penthouse level. pls la, 1 bedroom and 700++ sq feet u wanna call it a penthouse? dun make me laugh. anyway, we were notified that we have access to the roof deck on the 21st floor. and here's what the deck looks like.....

i guess this is where we'll be when our frens come over. cos we only have 3 chairs in the house, it's not even enough to invite pple over for dinner. hahahaha!

i cant wait for summer to come. like real summer! it's too windy now to chill out at the roof deck anyway, unless we bring our duvet up.

i think it'll be beautiful at night....

weekend goodies!

thankfully for me, my personal calories police takes the weekends off so i can go out n eat all the sweets n grease i want. hur hur hur!

we walked for 30 mins by the water and across the bridge to charles street for lunch on saturday and i managed to lure the boy into vanilla cafe. upon stepping in he said "it's all cakes and ice cream" but thank god, they serve sandwiches too. so i ordered a light sandwich just so i could have 2 scoops of raspberry chocolate chip ice cream! i've never tried this flava before and it was sooooooo goooood. i went out to buy a mini tub of tt on sunday. if there's breyers in singapore - go get the dark raspberry chocolate chip flava!!!

and sunday lunch was at asgard - an irish pub at central square. we were getting quite sick of brunch hence we decided to have lunch instead. i had the philly cheese steak sandwich and i finished it all....yummz!!!!!

of cos, we had a salad for dinner. detox for the weekend of naughty foods.

the not-so-enormous enormous room

the boy has been itching to party becos we have yet to step foot into a club since we got here 4 months ago. it's always been bars and pubs and when we ask around which club is good to go to, we get shrugged shoulders.

so friday night, the boys decided we'll go to enormous room at central square. and.....it was tiny. it's like the usual size of some small shaddy place at boat quay. 5 bucks for cover (pls la, might as well dun charge) and old hip hop songs. it got quite packed nearing 12 midnight, many dancing queens...pple were doing squats and all la! tsk tsk. i have never seen men dance so much before.

however, lil me got drunk on 2 gin and tonics. i didnt realise until i hit the bed and my head was spinning. and sat was spent feeling extremely blank n stone, so i came to the conclusion tt i had a hangover. from 2 drinks. but the boy explained tt my drinks were super strong, it was half a glass of gin and a lil bit of tonic water. gee thanks, how abt telling me tt before i drink it next time?

the bar was quite cool tho, it looks like a coat room. of cos this small lil area meant a squeezy time when ordering drinks.

and here's the tiny enormous room. nothing fascinating. but we're not giving up, we're gonna continue to look for where the good parties' at!!!

our first year mark

it's our 1 year anniversary! well, we've never really known what's the actual date of our anniversary and have never been bothered by it. last night before bed we decided n agreed tt it would be june 14th. the day of our first kiss!

we're not crazy over anniversaries so we're not having anything planned out but it was very sweet of the boy to go "today? cannot! i didnt even plan anything la!"

so yes, it's just another day in our relationship, but we now know it's been a year. :o)

the boy called to say...

"i'm sorry i cant do lunch, it's a super busy week, i dun even have time to eat! we need to spend quality time together this weekend baby, i miss you."

so random. so out of the blue. so sweet.

i'm starting to confirm....

that there is no summer in boston. it's sunny for 2 days and rainy cold for 5 days. the weather is gloomy. the forecast is gloomy too. it's 25 degrees on one day and it's 12 the next. and it's apparently colder in new york. tsk tsk. even the weather man says it's odd. he says typically at this time of the year it should be around 25 - 28 degrees. BOO.

sunday was a sunny day thankfully. the boy and i went for brunch and i started him to take photos of myself just to see if i have put on weight anot. hahahahaha! so yes, these photos are dumb. i look bigger but i think maybe cos i'm wearing white? (self-consolation)

and now...the boy doesnt like taking photos anymore cos he thinks he has put on weight and everytime he uploads new photos on facebook he gets a comment tt he's fatter. tsk tsk. i tried convincing him tt it's my photo taking skills (or lack of it) tt's causing him to look fat. but no...he doesnt buy it. he's such a chick.

and i've been losing at UNO games the past 3 days after winning 4 days in a row. of cos it's sweet revenge for the boy. i am quite sore at losing, i mean can u blame me, it's been 3 days! so i made the boy do the dishes and fold socks after he won me again last night. hyuk hyuk!

chocolate wafers!

i dare say these are the best cookies i've ever baked here. i'm not good with cookies, i'm better with muffins and cakes actually. and when i read the recipe saying tt this is low in fat as it only uses 3 tablespoons of butter and no egg, i was skeptical of it...but the photo tt came with the recipe was very enticing...

the dough got very wet after mixing everything together so i decided to refrigerate it for 2 hours and here's the long and hard dough....hahahahahaha!

and after slicing it up and baking, here're the wafers! see, i told u i have problems with consistency in sizing.

they are soooo good...and so much better with a cup of milk. the boy took a bite and yelled "YUMMZ!!!!" of cos everytime he says tt word he has to say it in a retarded voice but it tickles me. :o)

i munched on chocolate wafers as i made dinner...basil chicken which would have been great with angel hair pasta but i wasnt feeling like pasta at all so we had it as a salad instead.

oh and some neighbour gossip. we accidentally (and i vouch tt the boy really did accidentally do this, not intentionally nor nosily) opened one of our neighbour's mail and it was a bank transaction. it was to confirm tt he transfered 3 million bucks to another account. jaw drop right?

i suspect is the asian family with the tiny white dog tt stared then growled then barked at me while i was sunbathing 2 weeks ago. irritating dog, so small and wanna act fierce, one kick and he's off the deck ok. and now we know they have millions in their bank, makes them even more irritating.
