I must say I am damn happy with my baked goods this week. Both were super yummy! If I had the super power to never put on weight I wouldnt give any away, I'll just down everything by myself. *evil giggles* First up are classic brownies that are so intensely chocolatey. eeeeeemmmm....

Reminds me of mummy
mummy's not a very good cook. actually, she almost doesnt ever cook. she prob only has like 5 edible dishes as far as i remember. but she does make very very yummy green bean soup. she makes my bowls sweeter than the rest cos she knows i am sugar monster!!! so i made a bowl of green bean soup and it instantly reminded me of her. it's not as good as hers, but it's the closest i can get. i miss her. i miss her green bean soup. i miss her.

X'mas is here early!
What happens when you are left walking in Target for a really long time? I thought it would be a good idea to look at some X'mas ornaments since it'll be my first X'mas here. But I got distracted....sort of....
I'm usually not a big fan of accessories but these earrings are quite cool!
Oh and having boobs is never a bad thing...
Having Madonna's boobs arent so bad as well...
And having a HUUUUUGE ding dong is always always always a good thing! (The boy is refusing this as my Halloween costume - WHY NOT????)
And I have no idea why she wants to put my "erection" into her nose....
Awwwwww....feels like X'mas doesnt it????!!!!

Sis in Boston!
Familiar faces in this still quite foreign town - my elder sister and bro-in-law, kevin! yippee!!! i picked them up from the airport on monday afternoon and right after they unpacked, my sis wanted to shop at the nearby mall. and she bought a bag within 15 mins! right after that, we went to the supermarket for some grocery shopping cos kevin offered to cook dinner. the boy and i couldnt be happier, someone to cook dinner for us, haha!
2nd day in boston started off with dim sum and more shopping for them. then we had to stop for coffee and cakes at finale, the place with super great cakes! i had an italian soda and we shared the ultimate chocolate cake and boston cream cake.
and since it was their first dinner out, we took them to east coast grill. the best restaurant here! it's american grilled food that is perfect and to die for. we had grilled bread, mussels, a platter of ribs and steak, a roasted chicken and king shrimps. super big dinner...i'm still quite full from dinner!

cookie love!
i baked 2 batches of cookies last week and everything is gone! makes me a happy baker though. love seeing pple chomp down my baked goods.
special request #1 - white chocolate macademia nut cookies for my younger sis. i'm gonna send back a box of cookies for my younger sis (via my elder sis) in 3 weeks, so i decided to try out the recipe for white chocolate macademia nut cookies. super yummy....all gone once it was taken to the boy's agency.
special request #2 - butter cookies for the boy aka butter monster. plain and simple but so addictive! the boy and i kept every single one to ourselves and polished them off over the weekend. you can have them plain, or sprinkle sugar over them or dip them into jam. yummy!

irritating american phrases/words
sometime last week, there was a survey conducted where americans voted for their own most irritating phrases/words becos they are used ALL THE TIME. i can't remember the actual order but these are the 5:
1. whatever
my personal gripe is not the word whatever, but the way they say it. worse, sometimes they say "i don't care". like if you ask what do you wanna have for dinner, if they have nothing in mind, they cant just say "anything will do, i have nothing in mind" they say, "anything, i don't care".
2. at the end of the day
well, i must admit i use that alot and i dont really think it's american american. i mean, i dare say loads of pple back home use this phrase.
3. you know
i hate it when pple punctuate their sentences with "you know". i mean for god's sake, if i knew, would you need to tell me?
4. actually
again, another word that i think alot of us are guilty of. we either say "actually" or we say "basically" sometimes twice in a sentence! yikes! note to self: must stop doing that.
5. it is what it is
this is really irritating. when the situation cannot be changed and pple just whine about it, they then sum it up by saying "it is what it is". worse, they say it in the same irritating tonality used with "i don't care".
and i can sum all the above 5 phrases into 2 lines that i can imagine many americans to say in one breath.
you know, actually, at the end of the day, it is what it is. oh whatever!

baked goods!
i love baking cookies nearing the weekend cos it means the kitchen will have yummy cookies lying around! the past weekend we had oatmeal cherry white chocolate cookies. i usually prefer cookies with milk or dark chocolate in them but i must say these cookies were actually more yummy!
and there is the boston cream pie! i always said i must learn how to bake this while we live here and here it is! my first attempt! i must get myself a sharper knife so i dont get chocolate smear all over the cake....anyways, we gave away almost every single slice and everyone said it was "awesome"!

Columbus Day!
Today is a public holiday - Columbus day. The day America celebrates the arrival of Christopher Columbus. Don't ask me what the big deal is, but it is.
So we spent Sunday at North End which is also like Little Italy. Yummy bread and pastas for lunch and we chanced upon some sort of a parade with loads of pple lining the sides of the streets watching vintage cars, military school bands, the army, live band, ice cream truck (throwing out cups of free ice cream!), etc. It was a lively day with perfect fall weather.
