i spent the entire afternoon in the kitchen yesterday, from 230pm onwards. i attempted marble swirl pound cake (they call it pound cake here but it really means butter/sponge cake). halfway through prepping the ingredients i realised i did not have enuf sugar, dashed out to the mall to get it. thank god they sell sugar at the pharmacy.
here's the cake before it went into the over with pretty swirls.
and after 50 mins to an hour....
should have greased the bundt pan better, cos some parts of the skin were left behind.
left the cake to cool while i went to the gym, and after 45 mins, when i got back i realised the boy was home. n he yelled from the toilet "baby i wanted to eat ur cake, smell so nice! but i have to use the toilet first!" lucky he never cut my cake before i did, if not someone will not get any dinner. hmpf! and so i cut the cake and we had some.....yummy!!!!
the next time i do this again, i'm gonna use rich butter (i used light butter this time), it'll make the cake more buttery. but i cant decide if that's good or not, cos the good thing about my cake is that it's moist and light so eating a few slices wont make you jer lat at all. but if i were to make it more buttery, am sure it'll be super super moist and soft, but it might make you jer lat faster. hmmmm....i will most definitely bake this for my mummy when i'm back home....it's one of our fav cakes. :o)
and then there was dinner. i made the chili grilled chicken again, but less spicy cos i reserved the marinade for prawns! the prawns were sooooo good with the chili sauce. my tongue was on fire after dinner!
and the boy found these in chinatown! char siew and hot dog buns, so good for breakfast! i wonder they have curry chicken bun anot...hur hur hur!
so yes, that's my monday - all spent in the kitchen. :o)
