our home, beef stew and pancakes...

we found our home!!!! it's called the archstone apartments at north point, it's located in cambridge, not the central area of boston, you gotta take a train there, about 10 mins away. but we love it!!! it's got a huge gym, we're on the 20th floor, 1 br and 1 bathroom, brand new apt with brand new kitchen, it's got an entertainment room, free yoga classes...and the best bit? it's got an indoor heated swimming pool. oh and a laundry washer in the apt. ok this is a huge thing here cos almost all houses and apts have a shared laundry area - which i hate. i mean, we dun put all clothes into one washer n just wash, sometimes it takes a few hours, and if it's at the main floor of the building, what am i supp to do while waiting??? and the rent is cheap, cos it's a new building, and times are bad, so loads of freebies they're throwing in, hur hur hur!

they always said once u see the apt u like, u know it. and we knew it. when we walked around the building we felt it, then when we saw the apt with the funny layout (yes, it's got a weird layout, not squarish and boxish), we kinda knew it was home. :o)

and the leasing guy was funny, he's like jim carrey. in all sense of the word.

and here's a photo of a shepard fairey poster 3 mins away from our apt. it's a beautiful poster...his work is so good! his posters are all around boston, either on huge billboards or small little ones on the sides of buildings, or on lamp posts, etc. that's cos he's exhibiting at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, have been bugging the boy to go, we'll go next weekend, when he's not working and the weather's better (he's gotta work on sunday and it's snowing....brrrr).

the area around cambridge is way more fun than boston downtown. it's more gritty but it's so much more livelier. boston downtown is busy cos it's all huge malls and working people, cambridge and harvard is lively cos of the shops there (lil boutiques with much nicer stuff), the pple, mostly uni students, and it still has it's fair share of malls, we have one just 3 mins away from the apt.

just tt around downtown, u can walk whereas there, it's better to take the train, which is ok i guess, cos the trains are convenient, not very clean but it's ok....i guess what matters is the actual home, it was the best looking place we've seen.

and i made beef stew on thursday! stew with white wine....it was good! except my potatoes were a lil tough. here's a photo...erm, it looked better, just that we had made it halfway through the stew and i exclaimed i needed a photo. LOL!

and this morning i made pancakes! from scratch ok....not from a box of pancake mix. first thing i said when i made the first pancake was "how come it doesnt look like the macdonald's one...?" the boy didnt bother to reply. so we made 5, 1 failed, cos i didnt flip it well, and 2 nice ones, the other 2 were ok...a little too brown but still edible. see the pancakes!!!!

and i hope the weather gets better, it seems like it's gonna snow till tuesday. and i havent gotten my rubber boots. we went to target on friday night to get the rubber boots....i think it was a dodgy area cos the boy never wants to go to target ever. it was the area, the people there and of cos, there was a random dodgy person who spoke to me and....er....i spoke back....so the boy freaked out. and now he thinks i talk to everyone. he's paranoid android.

i have a coffee/interview tomorrow....wish me luck! :o)
